A Message From Abbot Gregory
May 2026
Dear Priory Families, Alumni, and Friends,
I am pleased to share an important update in the search for our next Headmaster. Following a thoughtful and comprehensive process, we received a strong pool of candidates from across the country. In partnership with our search consultants at Partners in Mission, the Search Committee carefully reviewed and discerned a slate of semi-finalist candidates, and has now advanced two exceptional finalists to the next stage of the process.
These candidates bring meaningful experience in Catholic education and leadership, along with a clear commitment to the formation of young people in mind, body, and spirit. Each offers a compelling vision that reflects the mission and values of our Priory community.
The finalists will visit campus on Tuesday, May 12, and Wednesday, May 13. During their time on campus, there will be opportunities for engagement through listening sessions and small group conversations with various members of the community. These gatherings are designed to foster thoughtful dialogue and allow participants to encounter the candidates in a meaningful way. Additional details will be shared with those involved in these sessions.
In keeping with best practices and in respect for the candidates, I ask for your continued commitment to maintaining confidentiality by refraining from discussing any candidates outside of these structured sessions.
Following the campus visits, designated participants will have the opportunity to provide feedback to the Search Committee. This input is an important part of our discernment as the Committee prepares its final recommendation.
As a Benedictine community, we are called to listen with the ear of the heart. I invite each of you to accompany this process in a spirit of prayer, attentiveness, and shared commitment to the good of our school. Together, we seek the leader who is called to serve our community at this moment in our history.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers throughout this important process.
Laus Tibi Domine,
Abbot Gregory Mohrman, O.S.B., '76
About Saint Louis Priory School
Founded in 1956 by the Benedictine monks of Saint Louis Abbey, Saint Louis Priory School is a Catholic, Benedictine, college preparatory school for young men in grades 6–12. Rooted in Benedictine values, Priory exists as a unique collaboration between monastic life and secondary education, forming students in mind, body, and spirit.
Priory is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and is in good standing with the National Catholic Educational Association. Its 150-acre campus, located in the Creve Coeur area of St. Louis County, includes academic, athletic, and cultural facilities, as well as the Abbey Church—an internationally recognized work of architecture designed by Gyo Obata of HOK. The school community is enriched daily by the presence of the Benedictine monks, who serve as teachers, mentors, spiritual guides, and role models for students.
At the heart of Priory’s mission is the Benedictine charism: prayer and work (ora et labora), community, humility, hospitality, and stewardship. These values permeate every aspect of school life, fostering a brotherhood where young men are called to seek God in all things. This integration of faith, community, and scholarship distinguishes Priory among Catholic schools in the United States.
Priory is widely recognized for its classical liberal arts education and proven academic excellence in both the humanities and STEM disciplines. This education builds a strong foundation in leadership, service, and spirituality. Alumni carry forward the spirit of St. Benedict as leaders in business, medicine, law, education, religious life, and public service. United by the bonds of brotherhood and the Abbey’s enduring presence, Priory graduates are men who live with purpose, integrity, and faith.
