The Monsignor Slattery Scholarship

This scholarship was established in honor of Monsignor Robert P. Slattery, the founding pastor of Saint Anselm Parish. Saint Anselm Parish and Saint Louis Priory School were established to serve families of the Archdiocese, and this scholarship program reinforces that mission for everyone currently enrolled in Archdiocesan schools.

The Monsignor Slattery Scholarship is given to new students entering Form III who are either Catholic or currently enrolled in Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Saint Louis. They exemplify a commitment to moral and spiritual development and an enthusiasm for contributing to their local parish or Catholic School.

The Monsignor Slattery Scholar will:

  • have demonstrated an openness to moral and spiritual growth, hospitality and good stewardship, and an eagerness to be part of the Priory community
  • have provided a well-written and thought-provoking essay
  • have demonstrated uncommon commitment to parish or Catholic school community
  • have performed well in a personal interview with the Admissions Committee
  • have a strong desire to receive a Catholic Benedictine formation, as illustrated by the 12 Hallmarks of a Benedictine School

This scholarship provides an annual $10,000 award for each recipient, provided he fulfills all chaplaincy, retreat, service, and athletic requirements, participates fully in at least one student club or organization, and avoids serious disciplinary infractions.

Candidates for the Monsignor Slattery Scholarship will need to complete a separate application (available soon) by Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, in order to be considered. All applications will be reviewed by the Saint Louis Priory School Admissions Committee and recipients will be notified in their offer of enrollment.

The total award amount will be determined in the recipient’s first year of enrollment and carry forward annually under these conditions.

The Saint Louis Priory School Admissions Committee will select award recipients from among all applicants for admission to Form III. No additional application or interview is required for this reward.
