Application Process

If you think Priory is the right school for your son, we want to make this possible regardless of your financial limitations. We encourage you to submit an application for tuition assistance. Priory is committed to working with families to help make attending Priory a reality.

Contact Admissions

Although this depends on a number of factors, we find that within about six weeks, our students have adjusted from their previous school to the new environment at Priory. We help them along the way with seminar, writing workshop, organization and study skills, and homework help. Although the hour or so (average) of homework per evening is more than most of our students are used to, we find that they readily respond to the challenge, and that the many supports we provide along the way give them the help they need!

Absolutely! Although Priory is a 6-year integrated program, for those who are willing to rise to the challenge and fill in the curricular gaps, joining us in 9th grade can be a wonderful option. The application process is essentially the same, although we have our applicants shadow with high school students.

The SSAT website offers helpful tutorials for everyone who registers for a test. There is also a premium test review section which we recommend for those who are concerned that their son be extra prepared, especially with test taking strategy.

Yes, we do accept qualified non-Catholic and non-Christian students, who go through the same application and selection process. All students will be expected to participate in Theology classes and school chaplaincy programming throughout their time at Priory.

Yes, we accept students from any background who are curious, eager to learn, not afraid to try new things and work hard. This has included a number of qualified home school students over the years.

We encourage students to begin the process of application, even if you are not sure whether Priory would be a good fit for your son. The only way to discover this for sure is to visit the school and begin the conversation with our enrollment team. If it becomes clear that it would not be a good fit, we are careful to guide families to the right decision in order to avoid serious disappointment if we can.

Priory students are drawn from a variety of independent, parochial, private and public schools from about 50 different zip codes.

Students can arrive as early as 7 a.m., and there is supervision in the high school lobby until 5:45 p.m. every weekday.

The monks are an integral part of Priory’s identity and the spiritual environment of the place. They have made a unique commitment to Priory and to our families, and the relationship between monks and Priory families is special indeed.

In addition, Priory students receive a superior faith formation, with six years of substantial Theology classes, class retreats, weekly Mass and prayer assemblies, and the lived example of dedicated Christians, both monastic and lay. Although not all the monks on campus are priests, many of the monks (the ones addressed as ‘Father’) are also Roman Catholic priests whose primary pastoral care is for Saint Louis Priory School students and families. 

Although no formal after-school program exists, supervision is provided in the school lobby from 4:30-5:45 p.m. every weekday after the 7th and 8th grade school day ends.

We do not provide bus transportation at this time, although we do offer a list of families in your zip code upon request. Many families are able to arrange a carpool.

Although these classes sometimes change from year to year, we currently offer AP US History, AP European History, AP World History, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP French, AP Spanish, AP Latin, AP American Government & Politics, and AP Computer Science.

Participation in sports is an important part of the Priory experience. 100% of Priory students participate in sports, with most participating in a different sport two or three of the trimesters. With 12 interscholastic sports including hockey, lacrosse and Ultimate, there are a lot of ways to be active and have fun. Ravens athletic teams have won 16 state championships in our history, and many Priory athletes have won individual state championships in their sports as well.

In addition to playing on a sports team during one of the three seasons, High School students have the option fo fulfilling another term of their sports requirement by participating in a strength and conditioning program, or by serving as a team manager or sports communications coordinator. In the winter term, participating in the school musical as an actor or crew member can also fulfill a term of required participation. A student can choose one of the three terms to not participate in any athletic or extracurricular programming. Many students participate in athletics for all three terms, and many do some combination of the various options available to them.

Sports offered:

This is certainly possible, if you are very disciplined and prepared to use your time well. However, we generally recommend that this only be done with an awareness that you may not have much free time if your commitment to practice after school is combined with your homework load as a student at Priory. Be careful not to overextend yourself!
