History and Social Studies

History and Social Studies at Priory imparts the skills and knowledge associated with the social sciences to students who will become active citizens of a constitutionally based, representative democracy that exists in a rapidly evolving global community. Priory graduates should be able to use their knowledge and understanding of the past and present to be leaders of the future.

With a six-year, coordinated program of studies in History and Social Studies, Priory offers a thorough curriculum: two terms of Geography in Grade 7, two terms of Government in Grade 8, six terms of World History in Grades 9 and 10, and three terms of U.S. History in Grade 11. These core requirements are augmented by elective courses in Grade 12 that include European History, U.S. Government and Politics, Economics, Comparative Religions, and Themes of the American West.
