Scholar Bowl, or academic competition, involves the quick recall of a variety of topics - literature, history, geography, mathematics, science, art, music, sports, mythology, and theatre. It is similar to Jeopardy, but moves at a much faster pace. Once you think you know the answer to a question, you may buzz in to answer. This often happens before the question has even been completed. The Priory team is usually quite strong; they have placed (first, second or third) at State five out of the last six years.
- Practices are fun, fast-paced and competitive
- Learn many fascinating facts
- Develop friendships with freshmen through senior teammates
- Hone your skills so you're "The Man" when your friends sign up for Trivia Nights
When and Where:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8 - 8:45 a.m., usually in Room 411 (if not there, then elsewhere in the Science Wing). You should attend one practice a week, and there are about eight Saturday tournaments between November and May.
Fast recall and a thorough knowledge of several categories. You need not be a master of all fields, as the team of four usually has specialists in different fields.
How to join:
Speak to Captain Urban Cornett, or Mrs. Reichle. We are especially looking for freshmen and sophomores to build strong teams in the future.
