2016-17 Winter Sports Update
The winter sports season is kicking into gear, and all three of our varsity teams have had a strong start to the year:
• The basketball team started the season with a 62-50 win against Confluence Academy on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Junior Charlie Berns lead the way scoring 18 points, senior Will Hanley added 15 and senior Dan Kacmarek chipped in with 12. The Rebels' next game is Friday, Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at home against Barat Academy.
• After dropping their opening game 5-1, the hockey team has gone on to a 4-0-2 record so far for a season total of 4-1-2. That includes a four-game win streak, and the team is 4-0-1 in its division right now. The Rebels have scored 36 goals in 7 games and allowed 21. They hope to keep their winning streak going against Webster Groves on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 8:45 p.m. at the Webster Groves ice rink.
• The wrestling team split its first dual meet of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 29, beating Brentwood 65-9 but losing to Principia 40-25. The varsity team includes two returning state qualifiers (senior Tony Kraus and junior Greg Rolwes), two freshmen (Luke Bagwell and Dalton Wilsher), and two seniors wrestling for the first time (Alex Telma and Christian Witte). The team is aiming for a strong placement in the John Burroughs Tournament this weekend.
