40 Days for Life
Father Ralph writes...
St. Louis Priory School was one of the first high schools to take the responsibility for the prayer vigil outside the Planned Parenthood clinic at Forest Park and Boyle. This happened on October 4, 2010, from 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. This year, as a school, we are inviting students to join us in the church for adoration from 12:05 – 12:25 p.m. each Friday during the 40 Days campaign.
This movement, which started in College Station Texas, moved worldwide in 2007. As of Oct. 15, these are the statistics quoted as their ‘track record’ : 9,215 lives saved, 104 abortion workers quit, 59 abortion centers closed, 625,000 volunteers, 3,336 local campaigns, 559 cities, 27 nations.
Some of our students go with their parishes to pray the vigil but it is to be hoped that, in the not too distant future, the Catholic schools of the metropolitan area may work together so that some students may be present each of the 40 days. The witness of our young people at the January March for Life in DC is overwhelmingly powerful. With a little coordination, electronically facilitated, this could be powerfully replicated in St Louis.
