Dress Down Day on Jan. 8
On November 18, the home of John Rice and Joan Rice burned to the ground. John Rice was the brother of Bishop Rice, who has been a great friend of the Priory community for many years. He has confirmed many Priory students over the years.
The night of the fire, Mr. Rice helped his son Michael, 17, escape safely. Then he went back inside to help his wife, Joan. Before they could escape, however, they succumbed to smoke inhalation and fell unconscious. They were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
On Tuesday, November 25, Mr. Rice died. He was a retired St. Louis City police officer, decorated with the Department's highest honor: the Medal of Valor.
Mrs. Rice remains in inpatient rehab, with a long road to recovery.
The Rice family lost not only a brother, husband and father but also their home.
This Thursday, January 8th, The St. Louis Priory Sodality will sponsor a dress-down day to help the Rice family.
We invite you all to help support the Rice family in their time of need.
