Celebrating with the Priory Community
When I speak with current or former students and parents about their overall experience at Priory, the conversation often involves a discussion of the deep sense of community shared by so many. A quick perusal of our school calendar at any point during the academic year reveals a myriad of opportunities for all of us to gather on campus for a variety of celebrations. The time between Thanksgiving and the New Year is no exception, beginning with the widely-attended alumni gathering at Schneithorst's last Friday evening and the ever-popular Christmas Boutique that took place on Wednesday. A special thank you to the members of our Development Office, Alumni Association and Mothers' Club for their dedication to sustaining our community.
I ask that you consider joining us for one of our winter season athletic competitions. Our Varsity Basketball team will play at home tonight against Barat Academy. It's always so great to see our students, families and friends fill the Corley Gym stands to cheer on our Rebel athletes and our coaches. Current schedules for all athletic teams can be found on our website. A more recent Priory tradition, our vocal music students will again perform a Christmas concert with the Saint Louis Metro Singers on December 10 in the beautiful Abbey Church. This performance, guaranteed to keep us centered on the Gospel message of the Incarnation during a season too often filled with distractions, is open to all. This weekend, you can even consider stopping by the high school tennis courts to purchase a Christmas tree from leaders of Priory’s Business and Entrepreneurship Club.
Our ever-active and benevolent Alumni Mothers’ Club will gather in the Switzer House on December 6 to prepare gift baskets for Saint Louis Coalition for Life. Current parents are invited to attend a Christmas Happy Hour on December 9 at the Ritz Carlton. We always welcome our young alumni back to campus during the school day when they’re home for the holidays and look forward to hearing about all that they’ve been up to since their last visit. And, of course, please think about joining us for one or more of our all-school Masses during this holy season.
I encourage everyone to look through the numerous events scheduled over the next few weeks and invite you to come to campus to celebrate with us as often as you are able.
Dr. Jared Rashford
