Message from the Assistant Headmaster, 2/24/17
It’s hard to believe that the students and faculty have wrapped up the second trimester for 2016-2017 and are set to begin their final term of the academic year this coming Monday. While most of us are presumably ready to usher in the springtime, our school community remained quite active throughout the cooler, shorter days of the winter months. We are so pleased with the continued effort and success of all of our student-athletes. For the first time in nearly three decades, we had two wrestlers medal at the state tournament last weekend! Our hockey team returned to the Wickenheiser playoffs and finished the season with a strong record. And I encourage all current and former students, parents, faculty and staff to come out to Parkway Central and support our Varsity Basketball team as they begin their post-season competition with a game against John Burroughs this Saturday.
I want to also personally acknowledge the outstanding production of this year’s musical, “Kiss Me, Kate.” Under the direction of Ann R. Raley, our student actors, set designers, and stage and lighting crews never cease to amaze the audience with their talent and creativity, and this year’s show was no exception. Through our mission, we believe that the appreciation and practice of the arts is integral to providing an education of the highest excellence. To that end, Priory students continue to experience each of our arts offerings during their time in the Junior School and then focus their practice of one of those same arts in the High School. Many of our students elect to further their engagement with the arts by participating in the winter musical or the spring play, remaining involved in the Guild, singing with our vocal music chorus throughout High School, and completing a creative thesis in the Senior year. We remain committed to providing our students and faculty with the resources they need, fostering a high level of participation in these wonderful programs. We appreciate the support of so many who enable us to do so.
Dr. Jared M. Rashford
