Senior Thesis Updates for Parents
Dear Senior Parents,
I hope you are enjoying summer! Last week I sent your sons an email with some thesis reminders, and would like to share a few key points with you.
First, Thesis I is a fall course designed to prepare students to write their thesis proper in winter, or for those pursuing a creative thesis to prepare them for their creative pursuit/product/performance. All students will complete Thesis II winter term. Students writing a thesis were provided with several (more than 4) sources in May, and we – the thesis committee – recommend they read and annotate their sources before classes begin. Second, seniors have several study halls throughout the week (most have 6 or more), and budgeting a few for thesis can be an effective way for them to manage the process, as well as to take full advantage of the expertise of our librarians on questions about sources, citations, writing mechanics, etc.
You can access thesis information and the Thesis Handbook online.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Throughout the school year I will return emails within one day, and throughout the rest of the summer I will return emails within 1-2 days.
Best wishes to you and your families for a happy and healthy second half of summer,
Senior Thesis Coordinator
