Summer Paleontology Trip
Dear Priory Parents,
Being more than a month into the new school year, many of you have started making plans for this coming summer break. In past summers, I have gone to Montana to dig for dinosaur fossils to bring back to Priory. It is my pleasure to announce that I have arranged for 5-15 Priory students to accompany me for one week of summer paleontology field experience. These students will get to work alongside real paleontologists as they learn how to identify prehistoric animals, excavate and preserve fossil finds, use GPS, and learn how the geography of an area changes over millions of years. It will be a wonderful opportunity for students to get their hands dirty, actively engaging in the science concepts they have learned about at Priory.
The trip will take place July 9-15, 2017. Students and teachers will fly from St. Louis to Billings, Montana, via Minneapolis. Once in Billings we will connect with the paleontologists and the Adventure-360 tour group that will drive us to Jordan, Montana. We will be lodging at Jordan and doing field work in the surrounding area. The cost for the trip will be $999.00 plus airfare.
There will be an information night at the Priory Library on Friday, Oct. 14 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. which will provide more detailed information about the trip. You can also get more information on the Adventure-360 website.
Please let me know by e-mail if you are interested in attending the info night.
