Thank You Letter From World Food Day
Father Gregory and Dr. Rashford received the following letter from World Food Day...
Dear Fr. Mohrmann & Dr. Rashford:
Once again, Priory students under the direction of Mrs. Carrie Lane played a major role in ensuring the success of the annual St. Louis World Food Day event, a food-packaging effort that helps feed the hungry. On Friday, Oct. 16, over 1800 St. Louisans (including many Priory Rebels) worked side-by-side to package meals to help feed children and families in need. Thanks to their hard work, over 362,500 meals were assembled in a single day!
A highlight of the StL World Food Day event is the annual High School Rally Night. This year, 22 High Schools participated by sending in students to help package meals. Senior Andrew Mauzy served as Priory's Ambassador to the event, inspiring other Priory students to participate as packagers. Priory students worked tirelessly alongside their peers from other schools and together they assembled more than 140,000 meals in three hours.
In the coming months, the St. Louis Area Food bank will distribute these meals locally, while the Outreach Program of Union, IA, will deliver meals to a school-based feeding program in Tanzania. We couldn't have achieved such incredible results without the support and commitment of so many high school students, especially students from Priory.
We are grateful that Priory students once again participated in this local and international hunger-relief initiative. Your students, especially Andrew, are great examples of service to others and it was a privilege to get to know- and work with- so many of them.
