John Spivey ’24 was a standout varsity baseball player at Priory. He was a four-time all-conference selection, including earning Most Valuable Player honors his junior and senior seasons.
He carried that success over into his freshman season with MIT. Spivey started in 38 games for the Engineers, batting .318, totaling 50 hits, 42 runs scored, 10 doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 37 RBI.
In conference action, Spivey led the way with 23 runs scored, 23 RBI, and 47 total bases. He earned a .379 batting average, to go along with a 1.152 OPS, and six home runs.
For his standout year, Spivey was named New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year and was selected to the all-conference First Team.
