Greetings and Welcome Back!
It’s been a busy summer on campus with lots of challenges and opportunities. The challenges were expected but who would have expected that renovation of our front entrance would have become a relocation opportunity for our geese!
This will be an exciting year for us: opening the science and arts wing, continuing our renovation project for the Commons, the 7th/8th grade and the outdoor amphitheater, and welcoming new faculty to our community.
Most recently, Nick Kheriaty joined our science department as a physics and chemistry faculty member. An alum of Notre Dame, Nick has served as the Dean of the Academy of Applied Sciences, chemistry teacher, Pro Life club moderator, and Griffin Life Club moderator at Vianney since 2009. In addition, his oldest son, Jacob, will be joining Priory as a 7th grader this year.
The Hallmarks of Benedictine spirituality are rooted in the idea of balance. Webster defines this word in the following ways: steadiness, steady footing, and equilibrium.
When considering this idea, I often think of a scale that has equal portions on each side. In collaboration with the Leadership Council, the school has decided that balance will be our spiritual and academic focus for this year. That we will be mindful of our commitments and the need to balance work with prayer and relaxation. What could be a better year?
So, soak up these last days of summer! We look forward to seeing our 7th grade students on Wednesday, Aug. 24, for orientation activities, and all of you on Thursday, Aug. 25, for the first day of school, beginning with Mass. This newsletter also includes many important reminders for the first days of school, so be sure to read through it carefully.
