MSHSAA has changed the submission requirements for medical paperwork starting in academic year 2023-24. Unfortunately, this will have a significant impact on our collection of paperwork for both attending school and eligibility in athletics. Below, we have summarized the changes. Please read carefully, as it affects every student at Priory.
The new physical paperwork, effective immediately, reduces the medical information shared with the school. To be eligible to participate in athletics, parents only need to return page 5 of the new physical packet. You can submit the physician-signed form, starting May 1, on MyPriory. We highly encourage parents to begin using this packet when taking their son for their annual physical. Do not wait until August 1 to complete and submit the form. For MSHSAA sports, page 5 is the only page that needs to be submitted.
Because the new paperwork greatly limits the amount of medical information shared with the school, if your son has a life-threatening illness, condition, or allergy, you may be asked to share additional documentation with the school, so we can treat them appropriately in the event of a medical emergency on campus. More information will become available as we navigate that process
We are still requiring families to submit immunization documentation, as required by the State of Missouri, via MyPriory. These forms do not need to be submitted until the start of the school year. You will be prompted via MyPriory when the submission portal is open.
We understand this can be confusing and frustrating. Rising Form III and Form V students are required to submit a new physical (Page 5 of the new MSHSAA physical packet) prior to August 1. However, some rising Form IV students and rising Form VI students may be asked to submit a new physical, if their physical currently on file expires before the conclusion of the 2023-24 academic year. Therefore, please do not hesitate in scheduling an annual physical examination with your son’s physician. Our hope is that, by starting this process early, we can eliminate the frustration at the beginning of the school year.
