Dr. Kent Pettit joined our community in the fall as an assistant cross country coach, and we are proud to announce he will be the new head track coach for the upcoming spring season. Dr. Pettit has lived in St. Louis since 2013, having spent most of his life in Indiana, Tennessee, and Georgia. He ran track and cross country in high school and is still an avid runner. Coach Pettit is passionate about our mission, drawing connections between the real world and athletics, and he looks forward to building the track and field program back to a tradition of excellence. Dr. Pettit is a certified teacher with an M.A. and Ph.D. in English and a B.A. and M.Div. in theology. Dr. Pettit currently is supporting our student supervision needs through the end of this unusual year, manning the distance learning hub in the gym where all students who have remote teachers are attending class. Dr. Pettit’s wife, Emily, is a pharmacist at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, and their son, Joe, is a preschooler at The St. Austin School.
